Competitiveness, regardless of the industry, has much to do with productivity. The following 10 tips will help you increase your productivity and stay competitive.
1. Plan your day
Allow you some time at the end of the day for planning the next day’s activities. This will help you be organized and each day will start with you executing the tasks, instead of planning them.
You will never obtain satisfactory results if you can’t set some priorities. The most important tasks must be solved first and afterwards you will get preoccupied with finishing the others, according to their importance. Don’t minimize the importance of this step. Sometimes, you could be unable to go through all the tasks that you have written on your list. It won’t be such a big problem to leave some tasks undone, but these tasks should be less important.
3. Break large tasks into smaller ones
It can be tough to start working on a big project. Whenever you feel intimidated or unsure, think of describing the project by dividing it into smaller tasks. It will be easier to begin and you will understand the project better.
It’s hard to work under pressure and be distracted all the time. If you feel that you can’t focus, turn off your phone, try not to keep the email open all day and don’t listen to music.
5. Organize your work area
It’s true, you can work even though documents are placed all over your desk. But you won’t achieve great results unless you are organized. It takes less time to find what you need if you have everything in order and it will be pleasant to work with a clean desk.
6. Take a break
After a dedicated period of work, you need and deserve a break. Eat something, sleep or read and start working again with new forces.
7. Stay positive
Studies show that people obtain better results if they think positive and aren’t stressed. Think of the advantages of performing your tasks and you’ll have more energy.
8. Work with others
Work in small teams, if this is possible. It’s fun to work with others, it’s motivating and you can take advantage of the experience of the other members of the team.
9. Know yourself better
Some people are more productive in the morning, whereas others work better in the afternoon. Be aware of your work habits. If you are in the second category, try taking care of things like email in the morning and work harder on your projects in the afternoon.
10. Reward yourself
Motivate yourself to work harder by promising some small rewards at the end of the day. If you meet your expectations, offer yourself something that will satisfy you.
