What is the difference between JRE and JDK?

JDK : Java Development Kit is the bundle of software or we can say libraries which you can use to develop java based software. It also embed JVM into it. JDK contains one or more JREs. JDK also come with various utility tools such as javac for compilation and jar for packaging etc. JDK is for programmers or developers who use the JDK libraries and packages to develop java applications.

On the other hand JRE (Java Runtime Environment) which is used to run the java application. JRE provides environment for to execute java programs or applications. Different platforms has different implementation of JRE. i.e for windows and linux you will get different JREs.
